Over 200 pages are devoted to giving the new or intermediate organizer a comprehensive understanding of how to start and maintain a Flag league. The reader will be ready to establish a league through developing organizational roles, developing qualified coaches and officials, managing risk and budgeting operations. In addition, standard forms are included for clinics, workshops and registrations.
Heritage Youth Development Start-Up Kit
This start-up kit is designed to help teachers integrate flag football into their curriculums and community groups get leagues started. The start-up kit includes 2 footballs (depending on the age group), 2 sets of 6 flags, 8 soft cones, 3 bean bags, the Football Canada flag football playbook, instructional DVD’s including Skills & Drills and the Teacher’s Guide, a whistle and a laundry bag to hold it all together. Football Canada also offers two types of Gripper Footballs which are smaller, lighter and softer than regular footballs. Grippers balls have been used by the Special Olympics in PEI in a pilot project for flag football. These balls are great to get kids with intellectual and/or physical disabilities involved in the game and also help teach the fundamentals.
