Benefits

FOOTBALL CANADA is the National Sport Governing Body whose purpose, through its members, is to initiate, regulate and manage the programs, services and events that promote participation and excellence in Canadian Amateur Football.

DEVELOPMENT - Football Canada influences the development and direction of football in Canada.  We offer members the opportunity to develop their potential on the National Stage whether as an athlete, a coach, an official, administrator, or support/medical equipment staff.

INSURANCE - As a Member, you are entitled to enroll and receive FULL coverage in our National Insurance Program for only $8.75 (as of August 2006) per registrant (including taxes). Our full coverage includes $3 million Liability, AD&D, plus Directors and Officers coverage.  Our National Insurance Program is available to all officials, coaches, players, managers, and administrators involved with your team/league.  Dare to compare the substance of the Football Canada coverage and price with what you currently have and pay.

NATIONAL COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM - Canada's National Coaching Certification Program is designed to meet the needs of practicing coaches, beginner or experienced.  The program is structured on four levels and presents coaches with the Theoretical, Technical and Practical aspects of coaching.

The purpose of the Football Canada National Coaching Certification Program is to provide amateur coaches with an opportunity to receive formal training in the science and art of coaching; to improve leadership skills; to upgrade coaching knowledge in skills, techniques and strategies; and to award accredited certification to successful participation.

The NCCP is currently undergoing a transition to a competency-based education and training  (CBET) approach, in which a coach is trained and may achieve certification to coach a specific type of participant in a particular coaching environment.

The new NCCP makes a distinction between coach training and coach certification. Coaches who need training will have opportunities to acquire or refine the skills, knowledge, and attitudes deemed important to coach effectively in a particular context. Coaches who want to be certified will be required to demonstrate their ability to achieve the requirements identified for their coaching context in areas such as program design, practice planning, performance analysis, program management, ethical coaching, support to participants during training, and support to participants in competition.

Elements of the new Theory component of the NCCP will be in place by April 2004. Football Canada’s objective is to introduce the new program in 2006. Between now and 2006 coaches   could receive training and achieve certification in either the existing five-level program or in the new competency-based program, depending on the progress your sport and your province/territory have made toward converting to the new approach and structure.

The NCCP provides member associations the opportunity to deliver the Football NCCP…all at a cost much less than non-member prices. Members also have direct access to the Nationally Managed Coaches Database.

FOOTBALL CANADA OFFICIALS’ CERTIFICATION PROGRAM - Football Canada provides a “National” standard for football officiating, which in turn greatly enhances participant safety in the sport regardless of level of play.

FOOTBALL CANADA CODE OF ETHICS - The Football Canada Code of Ethics has been developed to protect and promote the best interests of the game.  Its primary purpose is to clarify and distinguish ethical and approved professional practices from those that are detrimental, and to promote the principles of fair play in football.  Its secondary purpose is to emphasize the purpose and value of football, and to stress proper function of all those involved in relation to schools, public, players, and the public.  The ultimate success of the principles and standards of this Code depends upon the football coaches, administrators, and players of the game.

HUMAN KINETICS - Members can purchase resources through us from Human Kinetics Publishing.  A list of publications may be found on our website at www.footballcanada.com.  The benefit provides on-line access to Human Kinetics, which provides some financial resources to the Provincial Associations if members make purchases through the program.
