TOM CHENEY AWARD NOMINATIONS
 
The Tom Cheney Award, inaugurated in 1978 in honour of the late Tom Cheney, a nationally respected football official and educator, will be presented to a worthy recipient at the 2010 CFOA Biennial Conference, which will be held in Winnipeg, May 21-24, 2010.
This award is presented every two years to an individual for his or her outstanding contribution and service toward the improvement of football officiating in Canada.
Football Canada and the Canadian Football Officials’ Association are seeking nominations for this most prestigious Award.

At least in football terms, only 17 points separates the game's traditional powerhouse of the United States and the rest of the world following a 17-0 Team USA victory over the World at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.

The winner of the NFL Flag National Tournament of Champions 12-14 girls division are the Hamilton's Lions from the Hamilton's NFL Flag 5 on 5 Football League. They represented the Detroit Lions in

WORLD TEAM GROWING IN CONFIDENCE ON THE PRACTICE FIELD IN SOUTH FLORIDA
 
The World team returned to the practice field at the PAL Stadium in Plantation, FL, with two sessions that delighted head coach Jan Jenmert and his coaching staff. "We are not quite there in football terms, but where being focused and determined to get things right are concerned, the team is in great shape," said the Swedish coach, whose 45 players from around the world will take on USA Football's Junior National Team this Saturday.
 
The January 30 contest, which kicks off at 12pm and will be televised live by NFL Network, will follow AFC and NFC All-Star practices at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.  Admission to the NFL All-Star practices and "Team USA vs. The World" game is free of charge

WORLD TEAM NAMES 31 CANADIANS TO ROSTER TO FACE TEAM USA IN SOUTH FLORIDA

Players from eight IFAF member countries and four continents will come together during NFL Pro Bowl week to take part in USA vs. World game at 10pm on Saturday, January 30
 
OTTAWA, CANADA – JANUARY 6, 2009 – Football Canada’s High Performance Director Rick Sowieta is proud to announce 31 Canadians named to the World Team roster as well as three Canadian coaches. The team will face USA Football’s junior national team, comprised of the top high school seniors, at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, January 30. Team World is currently made up of 43 players from eight countries and four continents.

Coalition forms to rally for team sports in Canada
 
Nineteen sports join cause, including Hockey Canada and the Canadian Soccer Association;
Elite individual athletes also speak up for the ‘foundation’ of their careers
 
TORONTO, ON – The large majority of Canadians who participate in sport do so as part of a team. Yet only 17 per cent of the government’s core athletic funding goes to team sport organizations.
 
United in concern for the future of their sports, nineteen national sport-governing bodies have joined forces to raise awareness of the importance of team sport.

NEW YORK, USA – TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1 - NFL Network will televise USA Football’s USA vs. The World game live at 12 noon ET on Saturday, Jan. 30, from Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
 
The game matches USA Football’s 2010 Junior National Team – 45 of the country’s top high school seniors – against a World select team composed of the best players aged 19 and under selected from Canada and International Federation of American Football (IFAF) member countries outside the United States spanning four continents.
