Hi

I applaud the creation of an U16 provincial and national championship for flag football created this past year. I think it was a critical move that kept a lot of talented kids into flag football instead of other sports.

My question is why don't you expand this to U14 or U12 to parallel the Bantam and Peewee levels of youth baseball?

I coach a competitive team of 10 and 11 year olds who play in the Saskatoon Minor Football flag football league. Unfortunately this league does not want kids to act competitively at this age yet we accept this for hockey and baseball ?? There are no scores kept or referees for our league which really dampens the competitive spirit of my kids. I wish they could have a competitive league where there would be something like Provincials and Nationals to look forward to.

Just a thought to keep more competitive kids in the game. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't keep the recreational flag football leagues going for kids that aren't competitive however you can run a competitive league alongside for kids that are skillfull and want the competition. I would like to see Football Canada adopt Provincial and National championships for younger age groups as mentioned to increase the level of competition in the game of flag football, Not everyone goes on to tackle football and these kids are great atheletes as well. They need something to strive for.

Thanks
