GRANDE PRAIRIE COACH NAMED 2011 NFL YOUTH COACH OF THE YEAR
Toronto, ON – November 17, 2011 − The National Football League today named Rick Gilson 2011 NFL Youth Coach of the Year.
“The NFL Youth Coach of the Year award represents a commitment to coaching that goes beyond the win-loss column,” said Dan Quinn, Managing Director, NFL Canada. “Not only did Rick Gilson lead and inspire his team during an incredibly difficult time, but he also used football to help bring a grieving community together. The University of Windsor's Department of Athletics and Recreational Services invites applications for the position of Head Coach of the Lancers Men's Football Program commencing as early as January 1, 2012. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
The Head Football Coach is responsible for the organization, administration, fundraising, coaching and recruitment duties for the Men’s Varsity Football Program. Additional administrative duties within the Department of Athletics and Recreational Services will be assigned. This position is an Academic Ancillary Staff position renewable after an initial three-year term.
A strong football coaching background, preferably at the University or College level, is essential. Strong communication, organizational and administrative skills, and an undergraduate degree are required; a Master's degree is preferred. The candidate must have NCCP Level II certification or equivalent.

FOOTBALL CANADA LAUNCHES ONLINE NCCP CERTIFICATION

Football Canada has added a new element to the delivery of its National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP)
Football Canada has launched, an online (e-learning) component to augment its NCCP Community Sport - Initiation Tackle Football “Novice Coach” training program.
Football Canada’s NCCP Novice Coach Program is a program that has been approved by the Coaching Association of Canada. It is designed to provide new coaches with fundamental, practical and ethical coaching instruction in an experiential and interactive setting.
The online (e-learning) program is easy to follow, can be completed on the coaches own time and at his/her convenience. It will prepare each coach candidate for an informative and practical workshop on the basics elements of coaching young, novice and inexperienced football players.
Beginning April 1, 2010 all coaches who wish to attend a NCCP “Novice Coach” training workshop will be required to complete the online (e-learning) program before attending a provincially sanctioned and delivered Novice Coach Workshop.
